Dexrex Gear Secures $1 million in Private Funding

Cloud-based enterprise data management company to use investment to scale Go-to Market Activities for Dexrex Gear ChatSync platform

Newton, Mass. (February 23, 2010) -- Dexrex Gear, a leading developer of cloud-based enterprise data management solutions for businesses mobile text (SMS) and instant message (IM) communications, has secured $1M of private investment.

The new funds were provided by new and existing private angel investors as part of a strategic financing that complements its initial seed round investment.

Dexrex Gear will use the new funds to support the go-to-market activities for ChatSync, its recently launched cloud-based enterprise data management service, which provides small, medium and large enterprises with a comprehensive managed solution for the secure and seamless capture and active archiving of a business's real-time messaging.

"This funding provides the company with the engineering and sales and marketing resources to support the rollout of ChatSync to our channel partners in the face of growing demand for ChatSync amongst their SMB and enterprise customers," said Barrett Bilotta, CFO, Dexrex Gear. "In addition, the investment will help us continue to build the foundation from which to develop new products in the future."

With millions of instant messages sent on a daily basis, and a similar number of SMS messages navigating wireless networks, the sheer volume of real-time communications has made management difficult, particularly in a business setting. Dexrex Gear has taken years of real-time message research and applied it to fulfilling the personal, business and compliance issues surrounding the management of such data in a cloud-based environment. Dexrex Gear's ChatSync alleviates the expense, the time consumption and the storage constraints inherent with most message archiving and e-discovery tools, including a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product that saves messages from all major platforms so they can be archived, retained and retrieved for reporting, all over an existing IT infrastructure.

ChatSync also includes extensible APIs to plug into users' devices, messaging clients or messaging servers, providing the ability to push archived content and metadata to message powered services like Web access portals, monitoring applications or compliance tools.

"As real-time messaging continues to penetrate the enterprise market, the management of this data is becoming more and more crucial for IT departments, and is simply good management practice," said Glenn Hanson, an investor and Chairman of the Board of Dexrex. "Dexrex Gear has developed a managed services platform that solves many of the challenges associated with real-time messaging storage by applying advanced cloud computing techniques. We think this combination is a significant opportunity."

Dexrex Gear ChatSync supports enterprise platforms including IBM Lotus Sametime and Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS); consumer IM platforms such as Yahoo, Google Talk, Windows Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger; and for SMS it supports BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Google Android, as well as other SMS and messaging services.

Dexrex Gear's multi-tenant architecture allows resellers to set up their own customized and branded solution on Dexrex Gear's managed platform directly though Dexrex Gear's data centers. On-premise installations are also available if preferred.

Dexrex Gear ChatSync is available now from Dexrex Gear resellers. For more information contact sales@dexrexgear.com.

Dexrex Gear Forges New Path for Messaging Management and Archiving in Enterprise 2.0 World

New ChatSync enterprise solution relieves budget and compliance pressures as CIOs grapple with the rapid evolution of collaboration and communications tools; enables advanced management of instant messages and SMS text messages

Newton, Mass. (NOVEMBER 3, 2009) -- Dexrex Gear, a leading information technology platform provider of cost effective consumer and business textual data management services for instant message (IM) networks and mobile text (SMS) messages, is taking message archiving and data management to the cloud with the launch of its first enterprise-focused product, Dexrex Gear ChatSync.

Dexrex Gear ChatSync is a comprehensive Web-based data management solution for the secure and seamless capture and active archiving of a business's real-time messaging transmitted from a host of consumer IM and social media services as well as enterprise collaboration platforms.

"Instant messaging, SMS and other real-time communications have evolved into mission critical productivity drivers in today's enterprise 2.0 world, but today's companies are struggling to meet the rising businesses challenges to control and manage these new forms of data," said Derek Lyman, CEO, Dexrex Gear. "Dexrex Gear ChatSync uses flexible SaaS and on-premise deployment methods to help companies of all sizes archive and store messaging data for easy retrieval for monitoring, security, compliance and privacy regulations. With more than 12 billion messages being sent each day, companies need a real-time way to store real-time communications that is cost effective, future proof and secure."

CIOs continue to face new pressures as they adapt their architectures to leverage new communications tools like IM and SMS. But tightening budgets, increased regulatory compliance requirements and the explosion of the use of real-time communications tools in the era of enterprise 2.0 have presented new challenges. Dexrex Gear ChatSync alleviates the expense, the time consumption and the storage constraints inherent with most message archiving and e-discovery tools, including offering a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that saves messages from all major platforms so they can be archived, retained and retrieved for reporting, while letting businesses leverage their existing IT infrastructure.

"Instant messaging, SMS and social media have emerged as mission critical communications tools within global enterprises," said Doug Howard, Chief Strategy Officer at Perimeter eSecurity, an enterprise-class security services firm and Dexrex Gear partner. "As such, securing those communications and ensuring they adhere to strict compliance requirements is imperative. Dexrex Gear ChatSync gives us the ability to bring value added data management, storage, compliance and e-discovery services rapidly to market, while Dexrex Gear's proven technology allows an ease of deployment within client networks."

ChatSync works by capturing and offloading text-based messages via an IM client plug--in or proxy deployment into a secure and centralized storage platform within the cloud where it is normalized and archived in a structured database to ensure fast and efficient search and retrieval for compliance, e-discovery and adherence to storage best practices.

Dexrex Gear ChatSync uses extensible APIs to plug into users' devices, messaging clients or messaging servers, and archived content and metadata can be pushed from the platform to message powered services like Web access portals, monitoring applications or compliance tools. The Dexrex Gear architecture enables multiple deployment methods for Dexrex Gear ChatSync, including SaaS, a virtual appliance, and a hardware appliance. Those options enable the solution to run parallel to existing communications systems with no pass-through or single point of failure.

With the debut of Dexrex Gear ChatSync, data from a host of consumer IM services, mobile messaging tools and social media sites can be captured, along with enterprise collaboration and unified communications platforms.
